Who Is Kasey?

Color pencil sketch of a little girl with glasses and pigtails reading a book.At an early age, I became fascinated with our language and the way words fit together to form sentences. I likened word structure to puzzle pieces, and to my way of thinking, the puzzle was not finished until the words fit solidly - a complete picture. In my last years of elementary school I mastered poetry and also experimented with pencil sketches to accompany words to form a sort of free-form illustrated book. I will always have this inborn love of words; it was instrumental to my focusing on writing as a career.

Over the years I’ve had many work challenges:

•Broadcasting -
Television: taking up the opportunity of a lifetime as the first woman floor director at a top-rated Tampa television station, during which I overcame the resistance of a historically all-male profession to become a respected team member.
And
Radio: doing double-duty as a commercial sales rep and a copywriter. This allowed me to utilize my love of words, as writing advertising copy and press releases was necessary. Getting the message across (telling a story) in a compact manner is crucial to the demands of the 30 and 60 second ad world of TV and Radio. I discovered that this economical way of story-telling was my forte, and played a significant role in the shaping of my writing style.

•Consultant - progressing to the next logical step to go freelance as an Artist’s Rep. I essentially was a "problem solver" helping clients increase their revenues or boost their image. But this line of work required a full spectrum of services including client development, booking venues, fee and contract negotiation, even accounting functions such as billing and collections.

•Editing/Writing - by 1997 I was ready to switch to full-time writing as a freelancer. Since then I have edited various publications, written magazine stories, web articles and website content and - since 2004 - novels. With years of media, representation and publishing experience under my belt, it became only natural to add the Literary Agent hat.

As a Literary Agent I look for interesting material with great potential for wide reader appeal, well-written and well-told tales. I do not accept manuscripts about: dysfunctional or abusive childhoods, horror, the gross and the gothic, comic books/graphic novels, short stories or non-fiction.
